Newark police are investigating the motive behind a stabbing that occurred in the city on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, officials at University Hospitals contacted police when the victim entered the emergency department suffering stab wounds.
Police arrived at the hospital and were told by the victim that the incident occurred in the 1300 block of McCarter Highway before making it to the hospital.
Several units arrived at the McCarter Highway address to initiate the investigation.
The extent of the victim's injuries has not been reported as life-threatening at this time.
There were no arrests reported.
