Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Mr. Timothy Schillings, 34, of Dumont, on charges of Possession And Distribution of Explicit Images of Minors.
Bergen County Authorities say I'm Friday, January 24, in connection with an Internet Explicit Images of Minors investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed search warrants at the permanent residence of Schilling in Dumont, and a temporary residence he occasionally used in Bergenfield.
The investigation revealed that Schilling used the Internet to view, download, and possess approximately 6,000 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children, and also shared approximately 1,000 such files online.
Police say Schilling does not have a job and apparently sits home for more than 16 hours a day surfing the internet.
According to officials, Schilling was arrested on January 24th in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count each of Possession of Explicit Images of Minors in an amount greater than 1,000 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)ii, a 2nd-degree crime; and Distribution of Explicit Images of Minors, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)iii, also a 2nd-degree crime.
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and thanks to the Dumont and Bergenfield Police Departments for their assistance.
