Police officials in Newark are reporting that they seek the public’s help in identifying suspects wanted in a carjacking that occurred on Tuesday, January 21.
Police say shortly before 6:45 p.m., police responded to Hamilton Street and New Jersey Railroad Avenue on a call of carjacking.
A man sitting in his vehicle was approached at his driver’s side window by male who pointed a weapon at him and demanded his vehicle.
A second male approached the victim’s passenger side window also pointing a handgun at him.
The two suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle, headed southbound on New Jersey Railroad Avenue. The victim was also robbed of his cash and personal property.
Detectives investigating this incident obtained the below photos of the suspects. While police are actively searching for these suspects, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating them as part of their investigation.
The first suspect is described as possibly Hispanic or black, with a brown complexion and a dark-colored twist hairstyle. The second suspect is described as having a light- to tan-colored complexion and wearing a hooded sweater with white lettering on the front. Two other individuals stood by as lookouts. The third suspect is described as a male with a light complexion and wearing a gray hooded zippered jacket, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers. The fourth suspect is described as a female who was wearing a black hooded sweater, blue jeans and black Nike footwear.
