Police in Newark are investigating a domestic violence incident that had a woman suffering non-life threatening injuries Monday morning in Newark.
According to preliminary reports, several police officers responded to an address in the 200 block of South 19th Street at approximately 4:10 a.m.
When officers arrived they found a female victim with a large amount of blood on her and a male who ran from the scene after the physical altercation.
Police were able to catch the male who had severe injuries to his hands.
The suspect reported began to punch walls inside the residence before attacking the victim. Police believe that much of the blood that was on the woman was from the suspect’s bleeding hands.
Both individuals were treated by EMS according to reports.
Police are actively investigating the incident.
