Officers from the Essex County Sheriff's Office took a male into custody and charged him with receiving stolen property after they found him inside a stolen car Thursday morning.
Police spotted the two males inside the vehicle in the 400 block of South 19th Street just before 1:45 a.m. and launched an investigation after the car's registration came back stolen.
Police say the passenger in the vehicle ran from the car, but they were able to apprehend the driver.
Officers searched the area for the suspects who fled the car but he remained at-large.
There were no injuries reported.
