Police in Edison has cleared an area of reported shots fired that was heard in a section of the Township this afternoon.
According to a statement released by Edison Police, at approximately 1:20 p.m., phone calls from individuals near a wooded area of Wood Avenue reported hearing -what they believed was- shots fired.
As a precaution, schools were placed in a 'Shelter in Place' status while police canvassed the area.
Edison Police said officers cleared the area 'as founded' just before 2:05 p.m. and are continuing the investigation.
No injuries reported.
