Police in Newark closed several blocks on Clinton Avenue as they investigated a shots-fired incident that occurred in the South Ward neighborhood.
Police say there were no injuries reported after a gunman unloaded over a dozen rounds in the area of Seymour and Clinton avenues just before 4 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene taped off the area immediately after they found shell casings littering the ground.
Police say a search of the community indicated no injuries but some property damage.
The suspect fled from the scene and remained at large.
The motive is under investigation.
