FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced the arrest of Kerron Parker, 19, of Franklin Boulevard, Franklin Township, New Jersey in relation to the shooting death of Monserret Noyola-Narvaez, 20, Home Street, Franklin Township, New Jersey.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Franklin Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired, along with a motor vehicle stopped on Phillips Road, in the area of Matilda Avenue in Somerset.
Responding Franklin Township Police officers located a female driver unconscious behind the wheel of the aforementioned vehicle.
Officers observed that the female driver had been shot, she was removed from the vehicle and with the assistance of medical personnel emergency lifesaving measures were initiated.
The female victim was transported to an area trauma center and listed in critical condition.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at approximately 5pm, Noyola-Narvaez succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Noyola-Narvaez’ organs were donated to the NJ Sharing Network by her family following her death.
Officials say on Monday, October 28th an autopsy was conducted by the New Jersey Regional Medical Examiner’s Office and the cause of death was determined to be gunshot wound and deemed a homicide.
A two and one half month investigation was conducted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Franklin Township Police Department. As a result of this investigation, numerous interviews were conducted.
Preliminary investigation yielded a possible motive of mistaken identity for the shooting which is still under investigation.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that as a result of this investigation, defendant Parker has been charged with 1st degree, Murder.
Parker is currently lodged in the Middlesex County Jail. Defendant Parker will remain lodged pending a detention hearing in this matter.
Prosecutor Robertson commended the investigators assigned to this investigation as well as members of the New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance.
