According to Linden Police, at approximately 9:15 a.m. emergency responders were dispatched to 4200 Tremley Point Rd on reports of a fire.
Authorities say the 2-alarm fire started on a Fork Lift and spread toward some chemical transport tanks stacked nearby.
Workers from several surrounding buildings left the area due to the heavy smoke conditions before the fire was extinguished less than an hour later according to authorities.
Union County Fire Mutual Aid units provided assistance on scene, including engines from the Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle, Cranford, and Union Fire Departments.
Union County Hazmat personnel also responded, and will continue to conduct air monitoring in the area as a precaution; there is no hazard to the public.
