Police in Elizabeth are investigating a pedestrian strike that killed a woman this morning at an intersection in the city.
According to a statement released by Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, the Elizabeth resident -around the age of 60-was crossing Division Street when she was struck by a livery cab just before 7:30 a.m.
According to spokeswoman Martins, another vehicle went around the car and ran over the woman who was lying in the street.
Martins said the woman was rushed to Trinitas Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation is continuing, however DUI was not a factor according to Martins.
