The Center for Disease Control has added New Jersey among several states with outbreak cases of Influenza.
According to CDC officials, between October 1, 2019, and December 7, 2019, there have been up to 3.7 million cases of the flu, between 23,000 to 41,000 hospitalizations, and approximately 1,300 to 3,300 flu-related deaths.
CDC offcials say while they usually see flu activity summit in February, the worst of it appeared in December.
While NJ Health offcials have not recently confirmed any fatalities from the outbreak, a total of six children have died from the flu so far this season across Texas.
According to the state health department, four of them were not vaccinated.
CDC offcials said Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Serious outcomes of flu infection can result in hospitalization or death. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk of serious flu complications.
