Police in Jersey City are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred near one of their police precincts on Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 191 Bergen Avenue just before 5:25 p.m. Monday.
Police officers arrived and began to canvas the area for evidence and possible victims, according to reports.
During their search, officers did find shell casings and a bullet that struck the air conditioner of a nearby school, but no victims were found.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
