Police in Toms River are investigating a pedestrian strike that severely injured a man in the city on Sunday evening.
According to police, the unidentified man was struck in the vicinity of Coolidge and Oak Dale Road just before 6 p.m.
Police say emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering injuries to his lower extremities. The victim was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities closed Coolidge Avenue from Oak Dale Road to Ravenwood for the investigation.
