Police officials in Newark's North Ward are investigating a violent physical confrontation that sent four people to the hospital in Newark on Sunday night.
Authorities are currently looking into what caused the individuals to fight, but according to preliminary reports, police were called to two locations after receiving information that several people were stabbed shortly before 8:35 p.m.
Police say, units arrived at the Exxon Gas Station located at McCarter Highway and 3rd Avenue, where they found blood evidence after employees told police that a man and a woman were attacked by suspects armed with a knife.
According to police, the man suffered a severe stab injury in his arm. Police say the woman was beaten by the suspects with what's believed to be a gun.
Both arrived at Clara Maass Hospital for treatment and are expected to make a full recovery.
Police officials said they were also called to the vicinity of 299 Sumer Avenue after learning that two other individuals were injured and may be involved in the same incident.
According to authorities, the pair were found at that location then transported to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted.
Police say they are convinced that the two locations are connected, but they are looking into how it started and who were the aggressors.
Arrests are expected, according to police.
