Newark Police officers took a man into custody then charged him with possession of a gun after they found him in a section of the city on Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police spotted the suspect in the vicinity of Broad and Oriental streets at approximately 1 a.m.
Police say when they further investigated, they found the unidentified suspect in possession of a loaded gun.
Several units were called to the scene to assist in apprehending the suspect.
Police say no injuries were reported.
