Police in Newark are on the search for several suspects who exchanged gunfire on a street in the city's West Ward on Thanksgiving night.
According to police, residents who were enjoying dinner with family and friends ducked for cover inside their homes -located in the vicinity of 239 West End Avenue- just before dialing 911 when they heard several loud popping noises that resembled gunfire.
Newark West Ward Police rushed to the scene and found multiple shell casings, but after they canvassed the area, they did not find any victims.
Witnesses told police that a pickup truck and an SUV arrived in the neighborhood and began firing. Police found about eight shell casings during their search.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
