Police in Harrison are on the search for the driver of a car that struck a house at 300 John Street on Saturday night then sped away from the scene.
According to a statement released by Harrison Police officials, at 7:24 pm., Harrison units were dispatched to a call of a vehicle striking a building.
Officials said when Officer Gerris and Sgt. McGuire arrived, they spoke with the landlord and witnesses.
According to Harrison Police, a witness told the officers that prior to their arrival, a vehicle veered off the road and struck the building.
Officials say the building did sustain significant structural damage.
The vehicle fled the scene and limited information about the car involved was obtained from the witness, according to Harrison Police.
The vehicle involved is described as a grey car with a Rutgers University sticker on the back of it.
Police believe the suspected vehicle would have sustained significant front end damage as a result of the accident.
According to police, the witness did not supply a driver identification or registration information.
The Harrison Fire Department and the town building inspector were called to the scene and deemed the building unsafe and the residents were relocated.

There were no reported injuries as a result of the crash.
