Paterson Police have launched an investigation in a person found dead near train tracks in a section of the city on Saturday night.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Ellison Street and Madison Avenue after receiving reports of an unconscious person at approximately 11:20 p.m.
Police and EMS arrived at the scene found the unidentified person who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say they do not believe that the person was struck by a train and the State Regional Medical Examiners office will decide the official cause of death.
The incident remains under investigation.
