UPDATE: Seven Victims Shot Leaving Two Dead in a Violent 24-Hour Time Span in Newark

There is an active search underway for suspects wanted for a set of shootings that killed two men and injured five other victims in two separate Newark shootings.

According to police, in the latest shooting incident, a gunman arrived at The Cut Creator Barber Shop -located in the 80's block of Clinton Place just before 8:30 p.m.- and began to fire at individuals inside.

According to a brief statement released by Newark Police, one person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were rushed to University Hospital. Police officials say one of the hospitalized males is in critical condition.

Police say while officers were attempting to secure the crime scene, an officer suffered non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted by a suspect who tried to cross the yellow tape into the crime scene.

According to authorities, the shooter ran from the scene and remains at-large.

In a separate incident, Newark Police officials say, gunmen arrived in the 100 block of South 8th Street at approximate 5 p.m. Monday and sprayed the area with bullets that struck four victims.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the area littered with more than a dozen shell casings.

Police say 49-year-old Hassan Webb was found on South 11th Street, suffering bullet wounds that ultimately ended his life. The other victims were rushed to Univesity Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives for The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are looking into the motive for both shootings.

No arrests have been made.
