Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers announced today that the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Marquise Carruthers, 19, of Irvington was shot in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue shortly after midnight. EMS transported Carruthers to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 8:18 am.
Police say at this time, there are no arrests made and no suspects identified. The investigation is active and ongoing.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
