UPDATE: Police Arrest Trenton Man who Strangled his Girlfriend With Extension Cord

A 20-year-old Trenton man has been arrested and charged with the strangulation death of his girlfriend, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

Pablo Choc-Caal, of Anderson Street, Trenton, is charged with murder and weapons offenses. He is being held in the Mercer County Correction Center pending a detention hearing.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.

Officials say at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2019, Trenton police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Anderson Street after receiving a call from Trenton Emergency Medical Services.

Upon their arrival, police located an unresponsive Hispanic female laying on the floor of the second story bedroom according to officials.

The victim, later identified as 18-year-old Irma Patrona Ic-Maaz, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed that during an argument with his girlfriend, Choc-Caal used an extension cord to strangle her. He was taken into custody at the scene.

Despite having been charged, all persons are presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
