Newark emergency responders rushed to the scene of a crash that caused injuries in the city's South Ward on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Bergen Street and Hawthorne Avenue at approximately 8:35 p.m. to investigate reports of a crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, rescue crews found two vehicles involved in a head-on collision with trapped occupants.
Newark Emergency responders were able to extricate the victims from the vehicle then hand them over to University Hospital EMT's for the transport to the hospital.
The extent of the victims' injuries have not been reported at this time.
