Authorities in Paterson are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on a highway in the city on Friday morning.
Police say the crash happened in the southbound lanes of NJ-19 near Valley Road at around 9:38 a.m.
According to police, a 17-year-old girl, who operated a Mitsubishi Galant, collided with a container truck which caused his vehicle to overturn several times on the highway.
The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to the juvenile driver who was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Three juvenile passengers inside the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries according to police.
Police say the 55-year-old male driver of the truck did not suffer any serious injuries.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
