Authorities in Newark are investigating two shots fired incidents that occurred at separate locations in the city's West Ward.
According to police, reports of multiple rounds of shots fired sent officers to the vicinity of Stuyvesant Avenue and Silver Street at approximately 12:20 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene found about a half dozen shell casings near The Redeemed Christian Church of God Overcomers Chapel according to reports.
Police officers canvassed the scene for injured victims but did not find anyone shot according to reports.
In the other shooting incident, police responded to the vicinity of 178 Grove Terrace to investigate a ShotSpotter activation at approximately 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found shell casings, but after canvassing the area, no injuries were reported.
The motive for both shootings are under investigation and there are no immediate reports that the shootings are connected at this time.
