WARREN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives John W. Fodor and Warren Township Chief of Police William Keane announced the arrest of Sean DiGiovanna, 50, of Renfro Road.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on September 11, 2019, the Warren Township Police Department received a report that a teacher at the Watchung Hills Regional High School named Sean DiGiovanna sent sexually-explicit images of himself to a juvenile student.
Additionally, the victim reported receiving electronic messages from defendant DiGiovanna indicating he wanted to pursue a sexual relationship.
Communication data warrants were obtained by law enforcement for DiGiovanna’s cellular phone and social media accounts.
Forensic examination of defendant DiGiovanna’s phone revealed the sexually-explicit images and text conversations reported by the victim.
Officials say on October 10, Warren Township Police detectives arrested defendant DiGiovanna at the Warren Township Police Headquarters without incident.
Defendant DiGiovanna was charged with one count of 3rd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and one count of 3rd degree Promoting obscene material to a child under the age of 18.
He was then lodged in Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
