No criminal charges have been charged for the driver of a car who stayed at the scene after striking a child on a bike in Union Township on Saturday afternoon.
According to a statement released by Union Township Police Chief Dan Zieser to **[NJ101.5](https://nj1015.com/11-year-old-on-bike-hit-by-car-in-union-township-cops-say/)**, the incident happened at around 2:22 p.m. on Earhardt Street between Route 22 and Vauxhall Road.
Chief Zieser said an 11-year-old bicyclist and Earhardt Street resident came out between two parked cars and was struck by a vehicle.
According to Chief Zieser, the unidentified driver stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the police.
"The driver voluntarily gave blood to confirm the absence of drugs or alcohol and speed was not a factor either," according to Chief Zieser.
The child was rushed to transported to University Hospital in Newark in serious but stable condition suffering head and other Injuries. Chief Zieser said the child was not wearing a helmet.
None of the boy's injuries were not considered life-threatening after an evaluation by medical personnel.
