There is an active search for a suspect who pumped bullets into a man that caused fatal injuries on a Newark South Ward street Monday evening.
Police say just before 7:50 p.m., multiple rounds of gunfire sounded off in the vicinity of Wainwright Street and Lyons Avenue where officers arrived and found the lifeless body of Newark resident and father of three young girls, Mr. Faheem Muhammad.
27-year-old Muhammad was pronounced dead a short time later according to officials.
Police and investigators for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office taped off the area and began to search for the suspect and evidence to support a possible motive for the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at-large according to police.
No one else was injured during the shooting police said.
