Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Police Chief Luis Guzman announce that at approximately 9:33 p.m. on Sunday, police officers responded to the intersection of Passaic Street and 5th Street in the City of Passaic in response to a report of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered one victim, Amir Pyron, 22-years-old from Passaic, lying on the sidewalk near the intersection with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police say Mr. Pyron was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was rushed into emergency surgery before he was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:15 a.m.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
