Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announce that at approximately 9:30, a.m. on Sunday police responded to 263 East 16th Street in the City of Paterson based upon a report of the discovery of two bodies at that address.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Estafani, 31, Hernandez and her husband Alejo Batista, 49, both deceased inside their residence according to police.
The initial investigation revealed that Ms. Hernandez appears to have been stabbed to death by her husband, Mr. Batista, who then took his own life.
Although the matter remains an active and ongoing criminal investigation, no suspects are being sought at this time and there is no danger to the public.
