UPDATE: Engine of Plane Stalled Before Crashing into Trees in Hillsborough: Prosecutor

Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Manville Borough Chief of Police Mark Peltack announced that a single-engine plane crashed near the Central Jersey Regional Airport.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Tuesday, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Somerset County Communications received a call reporting that a plane had crashed near the Central Jersey Regional Airport.

Manville Police Officers, in addition to police officers from several surrounding towns were dispatched to the area and upon arrival were able to locate a single-engine aircraft entangled in the trees alongside the Millstone River in Manville.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the plane’s engine stalled while the pilot attempted to land at the Central Jersey Regional Airport which is located in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

The plane’s pilot was the single occupant and is reportedly uninjured.

An active rescue mission is underway to extricate the pilot from the plane.
