Newark -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the person or persons of interest in connection with the murder of Hassan Ward, 30, and Jasson Duffy, 30, both of Newark.
Officials say on Sept. 14, 2019 at approximately 2:39 P.M., Newark Police were dispatched to 45 Mercer Street on a report of a shooting in progress.
When they arrived, they discovered both victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both men were transported to University Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the double murder, which also left a 59-year-old woman injured.
She was shot but survived according to police.
