An overnight shooting that occurred in Paterson has the victim fighting for their lives at a local hospital and police searching for the suspect responsible for the incident.
According to preliminary reports, several rounds of gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Sandy Court and Christopher Columbus Drive at approximately 1 a.m. sending police to the scene to investigate.
Upon officers' arrival, they found an unconscious and unresponsive person suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
The victim was reportedly rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment and remains in critical condition.
Police focused their attention on a white vehicle that was found with the doors open and appeared to have been involved in a collision.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. No other injuries were reported.
