Police closed a portion of Route 18 in Marlboro to investigate a crash that left one person severely injured Monday night.
Officials have not released much regarding the cause of the crash, but according to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of NJ-18 northbound at Tennent Road Road Overpass at approximately 10:05 p.m. to investigate reports of a crash with injuries.
Rescue crews arrived and found a badly damaged car that struck the bridge with a person trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the victim from the vehicle that took less than a half-hour according to reports.
The victim was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick suffering severe head injuries.
The Marlboro Police department are investigating the cause of the crash.
