Officials for the NJ State Poice are reporting that a truck fire that occurred on the NJ Turnpike Sunday evening killed the driver.
According to state police, the crash involved a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike at around 6:25 p.m. near interchange 12 in Carteret.
The tractor-trailer struck the left barrier and guardrail then overturned and fell from the overpass according to NJ State Police.
Police say the driver died at the scene and identity is unknown at this time.
The official cause of the crash has not been released.
