Paterson Police was called to the waiting area of St. Joseph's Hospital emergency room after a person entered the facility suffering stab injuries Wednesday night.
According to police, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officials at St. Joseph's Hospital informed them that an unidentified person walked into the emergency room bleeding.
Police say the victim told officials that their injury was the result of an attack that ended in a stabbing.
Police arrived at the hospital and were told that the incident occurred in the vicinity of East 24th Street and 8th Avenue before the victim arrived at the hospital.
The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation and there were no reports of arrests.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
