TRENTON – Brian Chiaramonte of Keyport in Monmouth County has been playing the New Jersey Lottery for many years. He plays scratch-off and draw games, but especially enjoys playing CASH4LIFE because he likes the top prizes the game offers.
Brian plays special numbers that are dear to him. The morning of June 24 he forgot to stop by his regular retailer to pick up his CASH4LIFE ticket, so he decided to get them from a retailer on his way to the gym.
The next day while at work, Brian’s girlfriend texted him saying that she saw a news article indicating there was
a 2nd-tier CASH4LIFE top prize winner in their neighborhood. She sent him the article to reference.
Brian looked at the news article and saw that the numbers listed didn’t match the birthday numbers he had played. Being thorough, Brian still went to the store to check his numbers.
When he scanned the ticket, the machine read, “See clerk.” The clerk gave Brian the good news – he had just won $1,000 a week for life!
Brian called his girlfriend right away to tell her the good news, but she didn’t believe him. “I wouldn’t make jokes about something like this,” he said. He later realized that the numbers listed in the article were not the CASH4LIFE numbers, but the Pick 6 numbers for that evening. “Always check your numbers twice!” he said. The couple plan on buying a house, going on a nice vacation, and preparing for the future.
The New Jersey Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket was Keyport News, 37 West Front St., Keyport in Monmouth County.
