Police have a female suspect in custody after a pursuit that spanned several municipalities came to a crashing halt in Irvington Township a short time ago.
There is an active search around the Crescent Lane Housing projects for at least three suspects who bailed from a car that crashed on Lyons and Claremont after police attempted to pull the vehicle over.
The suspects caused a three-car collision with one of the vehicles -a minivan- carrying several children.
Newark Police took one person into custody and a female passenger was arrested at the scene after the male suspects left her inside the car.
It is not clear why police were chasing the car at this time. Newark Police, Irvington Police and NJ State Police are all on the scene.
No serious injuries reported.
