NJ Transit officials are looking into a pedestrian strike that has a man critically injured in Paterson.
According to a statement released by NJ Transit officials, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday, The Main/Bergen Line train number 1134 departed Suffern at 9:47 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Hoboken at 10:59 p.m. when it struck an adult male trespasser at Van Houten Street near Paterson Rail Station.
NJ Transit officials say the trespasser was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson and remains in critical condition.
According to NJ Transit, there were approximately 42 customers on the train, with no injuries reported to any of the passengers or crew members.
Officials say service was suspended in both directions on the Main Line Branch for about 90 minutes but then resumed.
Customers onboard train 1134 were serviced by buses according to NJ Transit.
