A woman in Elizabeth suffered non-life threatening injuries after a tree fell on her in a neighborhood in the city overnight.
According to police, emergency responders were dispatched to the vicinity of 112 West Jersey Street at approximately 10 p.m. after they received reports of an injured person.
When rescue crews arrived, they found a conscious and alert woman trapped under a tree after it fell on the woman at that location.
EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where doctors treated her injuries according to police.
Officials believe that the torrential rainstorm that passed through the area earlier in the evening caused the tree to break in half and strike the woman.
Police are investigating.
