Monmouth County authorities are reporting life-threatening injuries for the victim found shot at a location in Asbury Park.
According to an initial investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 707 Sewall Avenue at around 2 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive person suffering severe injuries after being shots in the back.
Medical personnel provided life-saving techniques before they transported the patient to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
Police set up a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.
The motived for the shooting remains under investigation.
