Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a theft that occurred on Friday, July 12th, according to officials.
Officials say that police responded to Spring Hill Suites, located at 652 Routes 1 & 9, on a call of a theft.
Officials say the suspect stole a guest’s backpack from the hotel cafeteria at approximately 6 a.m. that contained the traveler’s passport, personal items, and $3,800.00 in cash.
Detectives investigating this incident viewed the hotel’s surveillance cameras and captured footage of a man in dress attire taking the bag, officials say.
The suspect was observed entering an electric blue 4-door Mazda and fleeing the scene headed south on Routes 1 & 9.
While police are actively searching for the suspect, they seek the public’s help in quickly identifying him so that police can remove him from Newark streets.
