Two suspects who locked themselves inside a service garage of a gas station in an attempt to evade capture after an armed robbery were taken into custody by Newark Police on Tuesday night and charged.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Delta Gas Station located at 195 Chancellor Avenue to investigate reports of a commercial armed robbery in progress.
Police arrived at the scene and were told that two suspects were inside the garage and were possibly hiding in the service garage.
Officers surrounded the facility and located the suspects hiding in the rear of the garage. The suspects immediately surrendered without further incident according to police.
It is not immediately clear if the suspects robbed the gas station attendants or another establishment in the area then hid in the garage.
The incident remains under investigation.
