Newark Police officials said the driver of a car that struck a child at a location in the city's North Ward stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities on Sunday evening.
According to police, the child was struck by the car at approximately 7 p.m. in the 70's block of Mt. Pleasant.
EMS transported the child to the hospital where doctors treated then listed the victim in stable condition according to Newark Police.
Officials said the incident is under investigation.
