Two suspects managed to evade capture after a pursuit ended with the suspect bailing from a stolen vehicle in Newark's South Ward early Monday morning.
According to police, Union and Hillside police departments began a pursuit of a car occupied by two suspects who refused to stop for officers and were reportedly wanted for possible robberies in the area.
Police followed the vehicle until it reached the Newark city limits where the suspects bailed from the car near the vicinity of 143 Watson Avenue according to police. The brief pursuit ended when the suspects managed to outpace officers through backyards in the area. The Essex County Sherrif's Department also joined in on the foot pursuit. According to reports.
Union Police said the suspect's car struck a civilian vehicle, but there were no physical injuries reported.
The suspects remain at-large.
