A routine traffic stop in Paterson ended with a suspect producing a gun and reportedly fired multiple rounds at police officers on Thursday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police pulled over a car in the vicinity of 180 Fulton Street at around 7 p.m. when the suspect bailed from the vehicle and began firing shots at officers while he fled on foot.
Police officers reportedly returned fire at the suspect and were able to apprehend the male after a brief foot pursuit on Rosa Parks Boulevard. The suspects fired about five shots at officers during the incident.
According to authorities, a weapon used by the suspect was located a short distance away.
There were no injuries reported.
