Hudson County Assemblywoman to Honor First African American Valedictorian of Jersey City Charter School

31st Legislative District Honorable Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight is set to celebrate the accomplishments of a Jersey City resident Mr. Tykhil Greene with the 'Highlight31 Award' and present him with a NJ State Resolution after the past graduate led his class as the first African American valedictorian at the University Academy Charter High School in Jersey City this year.

According to officials, Tykhil will attend Seton Hall University in September, where he will major in International Business and minor in pre-law in his preparation to studying for a law degree.

Tykhil took AP classes all four years, was absent only ten times in his high school career and he worked for the Jersey City Department of Recreation in the summer for the last four years.

The University Academy Charter High School in Jersey City has been in existence for 17 years and the class of 2019 had a total of 100 students according to officials.

"As your State Assemblywoman, I would love to honor you with my 'Highlight31 Award' and present you with a State Resolution," Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight said in a Facebook post.

Since 2016, Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight has represented the 31st legislative district that covers the Hudson County municipalities of Bayonne and most of Jersey City.
