A garbage truck has overturned in the westbound lanes of Route 495 in Union City and is now causing massive delays.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. just west of Palisades Avenue in Weekhawken Twp.
It appears that the crash happened on JFK Boulevard between three vehicles and the impact had the garbage truck lose control and fall several feet onto NJ-495.
There are reports of about ten people injured with two victims seriously injured.
**UPDATE 2:25 P.M. The driver of the truck is in critical condition after he reportedly plowed into several vehicles then crashed through the Palisades Avenue bridge where the truck fell about 100 feet onto NJ-495. It is not clear if the driver experienced mechanical issues at this time.**
Expect massive delays if you are headed to the Lincoln Tunnel.
