Hudson County authorities are looking into a shooting that involved a police officer in Jersey City during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out at a housing project in the 300 block of Randough Avenue where Jersey City Police officials rushed to the scene and determined that at least one of their officers opened fire on two suspects for an unknown reason.
One person was transported to Jersey City Medical Center and the extent of their injuries has not been released. Officials say a second victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.
Officials say two officers were taken to the hospital for observation, but there were no reports of these officers suffered gunshot wounds.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation and has not released details regarding the incident at this time.
