Three people who were found suffering bullet wounds near a downtown Newark park early Tuesday morning has police investigating the motive for the shootings.
According to Newark Police officials, none of the victims suffered severe injuries after gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Lincoln Park at approximately 2:30 a.m.
Authorities say, in the first incident, officers responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the 80's block of Lincoln Park where officers arrived and found a female victim shot at that location.
According to police, a short time after cops located the woman, they received reports of two additional victims shot in the 80's block of Clinton Avenue.
First arriving officers found a juvenile and an unidentified person suffering bullet wounds according to police.
Police say the adult victim was struck in the torso by bullets, but both of the injured are expected to make a full recovery.
The victims reported to police that the incident occurred near Lincoln Park when an unidentified male began to fire shots at them for an unknown reason.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
