Newark Police officials are reporting that due to a street collapse that occurred in the 100 block of Palm Street, traffic is closed in the area.
According to police, at approximately 6:15 p.m., police responded to a call of a street collapse and observed a 6-ft. wide hole filled with water in the street.
Police say members of the Newark Water Department and PSE&G responded to the area to make repairs.
Officials urge drivers to expect delays and to plan alternate routes.
